Who is this course for?
This course is for people intending to take certification exams leading to industry recognised the ACA Adobe Certified Associate Certification. The course allows students, employees and professionals to acquire sufficient knowledge, practical skills and hands-on experience of Adobe environment in order to produce and deliver Rich Internet Applications (RIA) necessary in sectors from publishing, design, media, enterprise, to education.

You will need basic computer experience. General software, business and design skills are an advantage but not essential.

Why should I take this course?
Adobe certified professionals offer knowledge of detailed and thorough working methods as well as a working understanding of the design and production process. Getting yourself fully certified allows you to progress in a career path in Web, Media, and Visual Communication. Knowledge of advanced scripting with Interactivity coding course opens up specialist career paths into web development, database and the game industry.

How is the course structured?
The Adobe ACA Programme consists of three separate modules for Photoshop, Dreamweaver and Flash that offer certification and a fourth module Interactivity Coding with Adobe Action Script that offers advanced scripting skills certified by London Metropolitan University and Game Lab London:

  • Visual Communication with Adobe Photoshop
  • Web Communication with Adobe Dreamweaver
  • Rich Media Communication with Adobe Flash
  • Interactivity Coding with Adobe Action Script

Each module offers the opportunity to take an exam consisting of multiple-choice questions and simulations. There is some flexibility in the programme, whereby students will be offered opportunities to take practice exams and exams to suit.

Do I take all three modules?
Students can take one, two or all three modules in a single semester depending on their personal commitments.

How will the course be taught?
The course is available on either a full time or part time basis.
Full time: each module is taught from 10am to 5pm over up to 5 days, with the beginners course taught on the first 2 days and the intermediate course taught over the following 3 days, including the exam on the last day.
Part-time: taught in the evening on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6.00pm till 8.30pm. Each module is taught on a separate evening and there are 10 sessions in each. Admission to the course will be in September, February and May of each academic year.

Where will the course be taught?
All courses will run at London Metropolitan University, North Campus, Holloway Road.

What teaching materials will be provided?
Fees include mock exams and exams, and online materials. You will be expected to bring a USB external pen drive to copy any materials for your own educational practice.

What can I expect from each session?
Each session includes a two and a half hour hands-on supervised lab-based session each week, often half an hour of this will offer further demonstrations either from online resources or face to face support. In addition, students will ideally spend two hours per week on individual study and practice.

Who teaches the course?
London Metropolitan University has been offering Adobe ACA - internationally recognized Adobe Certified Associate courses since 2009. These courses are structured to teach skills needed to design and develop creative content; web publishing and rich media web applications and are delivered by experienced teaching staff.

What is the exam like?
The exams are under one hour long and consist of questions covering technical, digital design process and business content.
