Introduction

In this section we aim to provide ideas, resources, discussion and debate about not only HOW to develop academic skills for effective learning in higher education, but also to critique the issues, values and attitudes surrounding this most fundamental (yet important) aspect of every subject discipline: learning how to learn, developing metacognitive skills which enhance the learning process.

Please submit all links, draft articles, papers and such-like to the Editor at Deliberations@londonmet.ac.uk and join in the debate about the how, the what, the why, the when and the relative importance of academic and study skills in HE.

For example, should these skills be integrated into the curriculum from the start?
