Preparatory programmes and extended Degrees
These are courses designed to help you if you do not yet have the formal qualifications for entry to an undergraduate course, but have the potential to succeed.
Our Foundation programmes offer a subject-based preparation for Higher Education as well as providing the general academic skills needed for success at university.
Foundation degrees have two levels, each of 120 credits. They are designed with employers and aim to develop work-specific skills supported by academic learning. Work experience is an integral part of Foundation degrees.
How long: two years full-time, longer if you are part-time.
Next step: guaranteed progression to level 3 of at least one of our Honours degrees on successful completion. For a full list of Foundation degrees see our listings. We have links with local colleges to provide some Foundation degrees. We also have links with local colleges of further education to provide some HNC courses.
