From an early age I developed a passion for the local environment. My love of art gave me opportunities to express my interpretations of my surroundings through a wide range of media. After gaining an Art Scholarship to Taunton School, Somerset, and a distinction in Foundation Art and Design at Somerset College of Arts and Technology, I realised that I wanted to pursue my art to degree level.

Having been brought up in rural Somerset, I wanted to study in a vibrant, urban environment. I visited many art schools and departments and chose to study at London Met, an educational institution that offered excellent facilities and the opportunity to mix with people of very different interests and backgrounds. It also gave me the chance to study abroad.

From my earlier painting, I soon developed an interest in printmaking, helped greatly by the inspirational staff and outstanding facilities in the Printmaking Department. In my second year I studied abroad at Utah State University and pursued printmaking, studied photography, learned to sail and travelled extensively throughout America – Great memories!

On my return to London Met, I continued to develop my printmaking skills and exhibited my work in Japan, USA and throughout the UK. Whilst at London Met I also had the opportunity to work as a part time Student Ambassador for Aim Higher, supporting young people from underprivileged backgrounds and encouraging them to become involved in Higher Education. This work developed my self-confidence, organisational and interpersonal skills.

I graduated in 2007 and worked in a Kenyan school before travelling overland to Cape Town. I am currently working in the printing business, gaining valuable management experience. I continue to exhibit my art work in the West of England.
