Applied Translation Studies MA
I wanted to make a break in my career so I decided to study a Masters Degree to strength my knowledge and ability as a translator. I did my BA in Chile, so I was a bit worried about doing my MA studies in different country and language, as well as starting getting used to the study routine. There have been several years since graduated and I was working full-time. When I received the acceptance letter by the university, I discovered that Londonmet offered an induction week which I found very useful in terms of starting again university life, this time as a mature student. It also offered me support the whole year with academic English and several other topics relevant for study. The drop-in sessions helped me in my achievement in my course works and dissertation. I found MA Translation Studies at Londonmet very interesting, because it combined translation theory and practice. I found the facilities at Moorgate Campus very good, the study rooms, the languages library and the support services the university offered made my studying less stressful. During my studies I was lucky to meet people from the entire world; my class group concentrated around 10 different languages so it was very interesting to share opinions and experiences with them. I also got a friendly relationship with my lecturers and my tutors; they were always available when I needed some help. The result at the end of my studies has been a solid foundation of knowledge and motivation to pursue more research, also the confidence in my professional career and respect by employers.
