Applying for a Visa
If you are coming to study in the UK from outside the European Union, you will need to apply for a visa. Students from within the EU do not need a visa.
In March 2009 the UK border agency implemented a new points based visa system for entry to the UK. Please make sure you research the new regulations before making your applications to come to the UK, we can only offer applicants general information. For more details about visa types and requirements, please refer to the UKBA website for the most ip to date information or contact the British Embassy in your country.

Visa Types
Student Visitor Visa
If you are coming to study an English course for no longer than six months, you can come on a student visitor Visa. Students cannot work on this visa and must return to their country at the end of the English course. To get this visa you need a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies letter from ELS. You do not need an official qualification in English to get this letter.
General / Adult Visa
If you are coming to study for longer than six months or you have an offer to study a foundation, undergraduate or postgraduate programme at Londonmet after a Pre-sessional course, then a General / Adult Visa is reuired. You will be allowed to work up to 20 hours per week with this visa and this can be extended whilst you are in the UK.
To apply for the General / Adult Visa letter and you will also have to prove your current level of English with an official English qualification like IELTS, TOEFL or TOEIC. Your scores have to be stated in the visa letter and you will also need to show your certificates when you make the visa application. If you don't have an official English language score, we recommend that you take a test before you apply to come to the UK. If this is not possible then you can provide a certificate from High School or your Higher Education stating any English studies you have taken, however we cannot guarantee that this will satisfy the UKBA.
Course Fees / Living Costs
A student starting a new course must show that they have enough money to pay for the first year of the course or the entire course if less than one year. Students must also be able to show that they have enough money for living costs before they come to the UK, in order to get the Visa.
