Who is this course for?
These courses are structured to teach students the skills needed to design, build, maintain and secure computer networks. The courses will enable successful candidates to take the CCNA, CCNA Security and CCNP certification exams.

Students need to be computer literate and have awareness of the internet. Prior relevant experience will support the application.

For CCNA course, there is no technical experience is required.
For CCNP course, student should satisfy at least one the following requirements:

  • To be a CCNA certified,
  • Has completed CCNA in networking academy,
  • Has CCNA equivalent networking experience.

For CCNA Security student should be a CCNA networking academy graduate or a CCNA certified.

Why should I take this course?
Cisco Systems is considered to be one of the worldwide leaders in networking for the internet.

Cisco currently dominates the router market. Networking professionals have no choice but to become familiar with Cisco technologies and to begin looking at training options for Cisco products.

Today's corporations depend on their information networks for mission-critical operations, and are looking for highly trained networking professionals to keep them up and running at maximum performance. Qualified networking experts are in short supply and high demand - there are currently more Cisco networking jobs available than professionals to fill them.

Industry certifications are highly respected by employers around the world and help validate the skills needed to enter networking and IT positions in a variety of industries. Certifications help validate the skills required for computer support technicians and for careers in IT industry.

How is the course structured?
London metropolitan university is offering three Cisco networking academy courses.

  • CCNA Exploration
  • CCNA Security
  • CCNP

  • CCNA Exploration: The Cisco CCNA Exploration curriculum provides an integrated and comprehensive coverage of networking topics, from fundamentals to advanced applications and services, while providing opportunities for hands-on practical experience and soft-skills development. The curriculum teaches networking based on technology, covering networking concepts using a top-down, theoretical, and integrated approach – from network applications to the network protocols and services provided to those applications by the lower layers of the network. The four semesters in CCNA Exploration are:
    CCNA1 Network Fundamentals,
    CCNA2 Routing Protocols and Concepts,
    CCNA3 LAN Switching and Wireless,
    CCNA4 Accessing the WAN.

  • CCNA Security: CCNA Security will teach students to design and implement security solutions that will reduce the risk of revenue loss and vulnerability. As with existing courses offered by the Cisco Networking Academy, the focus of the course will combine hands-on experience, instructor-led and e-learning for students.

  • CCNP: The program is designed for CCNA qualified networking engineers or people with past networking experience. CCNP is a coveted qualification that will boost the career prospects of any networking professional.

    The training material for this qualification is covered by three individual courses of the Cisco Networking Academy Program (CNAP).

    The three CCNP courses are:
    CCNP ROUTE: Implementing Cisco IP Routing
    CCNP SWITCH: Implementing Cisco IP Switching
    CCNP TSHOOT: Maintaining and Troubleshooting Cisco IP Networks.

Do I take all the modules?
The four CCNA courses must be taken in sequence.

The three CCNP courses can be taken in any sequence.

How will the course be taught?
The University is offering part-time, full-time and weekend courses in computer networks and internetworking. Admission to the course will be in September and February of each academic year.

The CCNA course is provided in full time and part time mode.

The CCNA Security course only offers in part time mode.

The CCNP course is provided in full time and part time mode

Where will the course be taught?
All courses will run at London Metropolitan University, North Campus, Holloway Road.

CCNA classes take place in room T3-02. CCNP and CCNA Security classes are in room T6-02 and T6-04.

How do I enrol?
Please apply for the course as soon as you can in order to secure your place and avoid disappointments.

What teaching materials will be provided?
Fees include all teaching materials. This includes a comprehensive online curriculum and PDF lab manual.

What can I expect from each session?
Each course includes a one hour theory lecture and the remaining hours will be hands-on supervised lab-based session, tutorial and other relevant activities. In addition, depending on the mode of study students will spend minimum two hours per week on individual study and practice.

Who teaches the course?
London Met was established as a 'Cisco Regional Academy' in 1998, and is one of the very few places in the UK that has been certified by Cisco Systems to provide CCNA and CCNP training in one of the most advanced Cisco training laboratories in the UK.

Cisco courses will be taught by Londonmet lecturers who are Cisco certified instructors and have massive experience in teaching networking subject areas since 1998.

What is the exam like?
All Cisco academy courses have weekly chapter tests and final theory and practical tests. In order to to graduate form any Cisco academy courses, student must obtain minimum 70% for final theory and practical tests.
