1) Study strategies Masterclasses (Spring semester)

During semester 2 we are running a range of free 'Masterclass' workshops for all students interested in developing their study strategies. The programme will commence in teaching week 3 (w/c: 20th February).

Topics include:

  • dissertation planning
  • notemaking
  • presentations
  • free writing
  • drawing for learning
  • dissertation writing up
  • memory magic

2) Maths and Stats support (Spring semester)

A series of Maths and Stats one-to-one study advice sessions will be running in the Learning Centre (Holloway Road Library). These start in teaching week 2, week commencing 13th February, running through to week 13, the week ending 18th May, at the following times.

These advice sessions are drop-in: there's no need to book.

3) Study strategies workshops and one-to-one study advice, by Faculty (Spring semester)


We have been inviting Faculties to send us information of study support opportunities for their students and will advertise these events here.

Further Spring semester support by Faculties to be confirmed.

Students should also check with their course/module leader (and Undergraduates their PAA) to find out what provision is available in their Faculty for learning & writing development support, study advice, etc..

4) Preparing for Study programmes (January-February 2012)

Our Preparing For Study programmes run just before the start of each semester (September and January each year) and are open to all new and returning students at London Met.

Please choose an option that suits you and call or email to book a place.

5a) Preparing for Study: study and academic Skills

Increase your learning power through this short course (4 sessions) aimed to help you to manage your study goals and develop essential skills e.g. finding and analysing sources, note-making and academic writing, effective presentations and group-based work.

It is available as a half-day programme in the mornings or as an evening programme.

5b) English & Written Communication in Higher Education

Develop your communication skills for university study through this intensive course covering essential aspects of the English language and use of English for academic writing. It is important to attend all 3 sessions.
