University & National Teaching Fellowships 2011

In previous years, London Metropolitan University has been successful in achieving several National Teaching Fellowship awards. The National Teaching Fellowship Scheme (NTFS) provides annually for up to 50 individual awards of £10,000 each within the Higher Education sector.

The University encourages applications for the NTFS and may nominate up to three individuals. The individual award may be used for personal development in learning and teaching. Award holders will additionally be eligible to bid for NTFS Project funding.

All teaching staff and those involved in the support of learning and teaching who have a full-time or fractional University contract are eligible to apply.

In addition to supporting the National scheme, in 2007 the University launched its own Teaching Fellowship scheme to recognise outstanding contributions to learning and teaching within the University as well as within the higher education community. Eligibility for an internal award requires submission of an application for a national award.

Colleagues achieving the University Teaching Fellowship will receive:

  • A London Metropolitan University Teaching Fellowship Certificate and be entitled to use the designation 'University Teaching Fellow'

  • A small project grant to be used in the following year in the support of a specified project in an area of learning or teaching.

University Teaching Fellows are expected to contribute actively to the development and enhancement of learning and teaching in the University.
