Student Enterprise & Career Development

At London Met we have direct links to business and enterprise, enabling our students substantial opportunities to practice their skills and knowledge outside of the classroom.

Our award winning student enterprise programme runs regular workshops, the meet the entrepreneur series, hosts the annual business plan competition, provides work experience with start up businesses and gives support to students and graduates to create and grow new ventures.

Student Enterprise Workshop

The Faculty of Computing has a monthly Student Enterprise Workshop (SEW). These aim to make our students more aware of what is happening in industry, and give students access to world-leaders in the computing industry with speakers from Microsoft, Cisco, Apple, Intel, and more.

London Met Careers Service

Our Career Development and Employment Service helps students improve their employability by providing the right guidance for them to make informed decisions about career choices.

London Met Business School

Located in the City of London, the London Metropolitan Business School is at the heart of one of the world’s major financial centres. The business school works closely with large companies to design its programmes. Our students are able to apply their learning using market-leading technology, including the Bloomberg Research and Trading Room. Our graduates have gone on to work in major institutions such as the Bank of England, NatWest and Merrill Lynch.

London Met Enterprise Society

London Met Entrepreneurs (LME) is a student run society supported by the National Consortium of University Entrepreneurs (NACUE). The society helps business-minded students develop their skills through talks and workshops given by industry leaders, who are happy the offer business guidance. The society also runs a number of innovative business competitions. See here for more.

World Of Work

The WOW Agency places our top computing graduates into challenging and inspiring contracts, from web-design through to complex database development. We work with a range of businesses and offer competitive rates of pay.

Accelerator

Accelerator is London Met’s business incubator. We support students’ business ventures by providing them office space in Shoreditch, and expert business advice. At Accelerator we offer physical business incubation as well as virtual business incubation, events and training, placement services, and meeting rooms.

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP)

KTP is a government scheme which helps companies access the knowledge and skills within universities and research organisations. The schemes are collaborative between an academic, a graduate and a business and last for one to three years. In most cases, the schemes lead to a permanent full time job for the graduate.
