Faculty of Architecture and Spatial Design

Design, understood in its widest sense, is at the heart of the BA (Hons) Architecture course at London Metropolitan University.

We will challenge you to think about anything and everything - from the way light hits a wall or how to map the city's 'soundscape' to exploring the interior of a Vermeer painting or mass housing for the 21st century.

First year students of architecture, interior design and spatial arts are taught together, blurring the distinctions between the different disciplines in the best possible way. We encourage you to explore your ideas, challenge your speculations whilst building design and critical skills, confidence and abilities.

In the second and third year, students are taught in 'studios', each of which has a different perspective and represents a critical position in contemporary architecture. Perspective and critical understanding is maintained by the complementary subject studies, including history and theory, which map out the diverse positions involved and provide a necessary and critical common foundation.
