RIBA/IoE/Schools Design CPD

The pilot of the Schools Design CPD Course, set up by London Metropolitan University and the Institute of Education in partnership with the Royal Institute of British Architects and the Department for Children, Schools and Families, took place in the Libeskind designed Graduate Centre at London Metropolitan University June 2009.

The course covered various aspects of school design and procurement
through in depth lectures, learning through participation workshops,
discussions and a site visit. The course participants came from a wide
variety of backgrounds, including local authority officers, architects,
educationalists, project managers and contractors.

"This was the best course on education issues I have attended in the last few years. The diversity of workshops and speakers, coupled with the selection of attendees, resulted in a very vibrant mix."

Further courses were held in September 2009, March 2010, July 2010 and November 2010. The course has been discontinued following the cancellation of Building Schools for the Future and LondonMet are currently collaborating with the Institute of Education on the development of a Masters in Schools Design.
