In 2005 ASD Projects provided project management support for two design and build outdoor structures for local Islington schools in Canonbury and Drayton Park.
The canopy project in Canonbury was designed and constructed by third year ASD students with their tutor Michael Stacey in collaboration with school governors, teachers, school children and the school keeper. The canopy was made from plywood, a single ply waterproof membrane, and simply detailed translucent polycarbonate roof lights.
The tree house at Drayton Park was designed and constructed by second year ASD students with their tutors Daniel Rosbottom and David Howarth of DRDH Architects. The design was developed through workshops with a Year 5 class from the school using a pop-up model of the school that engaged the children in a discussion about their environment.
