When to Look
|
When? |
The number of properties being offered to the University for advertising increases towards the end of June and beginning of July. Commercial lettings agencies also experience an increase in the number of properties they have to offer from the summer onwards. Competition can be fierce as students from other London universities will be looking for accommodation in the same areas as you. It is not common for London householders to accept a summer retainer, so it is important to come to London in July/August if you can and search for accommodation. The Accommodation Bureau normally hold events to help students find somewhere suitable in the Private rented sector as well as halls of residence. These events are ideal for meeting other students to go house-hunting with. Renting whole houses in a group is always easier and cheaper than finding a place on your own.
Please keep an eye on our events page for 2012 Accommodation Fair details.

Sharing Flats and Houses |
If you are on your own you will need to advertise the fact that you are looking for other people to share with. There is a 'Noticeboard' facility available via LondonmetstudentPRS. It is generally best to share with other students as they will have similar interests, timetables and requirements to you. A household which fully comprises full-time students also ensures that the house is exempt from paying council tax.
